In His Presence...

You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11 (NKJV)

Up early, coffee in hand, the sun isn’t awake yet either. I head out the door for my morning routine of gardening then going for a run*. Retrieving the squash and zucchini I make plans to have them for dinner, pull up a few onions and move into prayer time over the much desired tomatoes that are still on the vine; visions of tomato sandwiches, dripping with mayo, dancing in my head… you get the picture.

I usually listen to some jammin music while I’m “flapping in the wind” (running*). However today is different, I sense the need to leave the music behind and indulge myself in the silence of the morning.

Taking in the fresh air, I over hear the geese in the distance “honking” each other on. I’m quickly reminded of the value of having healthy relationships with my family and friends, of the importance to encourage one another daily in the Word. The birds break loose in some amazing worship music as I’m pounding along the trail. I could go on and on about all the wonderful sounds I overheard but there is one distinct voice speaking deep within my heart which simply stated, “stay in My presence, experience true joy”. Psalm 16:11 begins to resonate. “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy; at Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

As evening arrives and the sun is setting on another day. I find myself meandering through the flower bed praying over events of the day, meditating on Psalm 16:11. In the quiet of the evening my spirit is at peace knowing~

  • the trajectory of our lives has been established by The Maker of the universe; trust Him!

  • He alone thoroughly saturates our hearts and lives with joy; nothing compares to the depths of joy found in Christ alone.

  • His pure presence provides whole-hearted satisfaction, gratification, contentment and entertainment. FOREVER!

*run: “move at a speed faster than a walk, never having both or all the feet on the ground at the same time”. for the record I don’t really classify myself as a runner.
