Dear Minister's Wife ~
Short, to the point. No sugar coating here-
I passed by Negative Nellie and what I heard her say, for my benefit, just dumbfounded me. She cut me to the core and I had a choice to make: Believe her or believe HIM?
Does it really matter what others think? Why do we fall into the trap of pleasing people when the only one we need to please is our Father?
Our culture pressures us to place great importance on the opinion of others but their word is not the final word. His Word reveals truth. Do not, I repeat, do not let anyone define who you are except Jesus. When you allow others to define who you are you've given them authority over you, so stop.
What does God’s Word say about you?
“I have loved you, my people, with an everlasting love. With unfailing love I have drawn you to myself." (Jer. 31:3 NLT)
One passage says it all people. He loves you with an everlasting love - a love that’s never ending! A constant love even on your ugly cry days? Thank You Jesus. He loves you with an unfailing love that draws you to Him, on purpose. I've needed that reminder on numerous occasions, like daily. He. draws. you. to. Himself. It’s breath taking.
Did you forget who you are?
Ministers wife or not, you've been commissioned to a time, a place, an opportunity that you alone can fulfill. I am captivated by the PHILLIPS translation of the 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24 passage:
“May the God of peace make you holy through and through. May you be kept in soul and mind and body in spotless integrity until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is utterly faithful and he will finish what he has set out to do.”
Not only is He faithful, He is utterly faithful. (utterly: completely, totally, absolutely, entirely, wholly, fully, thoroughly, quite, altogether, down right)
So for today: remember what His Word says about you and remember who you are in Him.
