Confessions of a Pastor's Wife~ 3 Truths about Chaos

At the time this writing (6/25) one college student, spending her summer in Ecuador, has contracted an intestinal virus. Adjusting to a culture that she's unfamiliar with has pressed her to seek God and trust Him completely for the outcome.

The other, almost finished with college student is preparing for a worship ministry staff position somewhere in this world (yikes) AND he's getting married in February 2016. His precious bride to be is working a summer internship so we catch a glimpse of her every now and then.

Transitioning with college students can be a bit chaotic at times, to say the least, but we like to refer to it as character training - ours!

Truth is

1-Chaos is real

Exhale and recognize that adversity presents all kinds of complications but perspective will determine the outcome. I once heard the statment, "attitude determines altitude" #truth.

2-Chaos has purpose

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

(James 1:2-4 NLT)

Did he seriously write this? Incoming troubles are an opportunity for great joy? yep! The word "joy"could be used to express the idea of inner contentment in spite of external circumstances. The truth is our situation may not change BUT we can experience a calm confidence in our God regardless.

3-Chaos encourages surrender

The more we know Him, the more confident we are in surrendering to Him when chaos occurs. Trials strengthen trust.

Hartlea is 100% better from the virus, adapting very well to her culture and learning the language.
