Confessions of a Pastors Wife ~ Transitions

Happy Fall!

Summer gardening is done, the hot temps have chilled out and beautiful red fig preserve jars line the cellar shelves (thank you, Mother) and our daughter has settled in her own place at LU (sniff). Transitions!

With the arrival of a less demanding schedule - LAUGHING OUT LOUD RIGHT NOW - I just might find a minute to blog...

Every season arrives with a new set of challenges and prep work around the property. With the arrival of Fall the pecan trees yield precious fruit and we have to work fast to outsmart the squirrel population. Bring on the wind, mountains of leaves and short days. Warm jackets, crisp mornings, bonfires and so much more. I adapt well to this transition but shudder to think of the frozen season to come... Let's focus on the NOW.

Autumn is on the heels of my birthday so I celebrate its arrival in a big way as I sort through getting a year older (49again). With the start of another year I ask the Lord,

  • Now what?

  • What's my next assignment?

  • Where do I go from here?

  • I hesitantly ask, How do you want to prune me?

  • Followed by, let me surrender to You and You alone.

Similar to years gone by, I left the office early (don't tell the boss) and headed to one of my favorite trails for time alone with God. He met me there, right in the middle of His creation.

He said, "Real living is letting go of everything but Me."

"He must increase, but I must decrease." John 3:30 esv
