My Mother, My Friend!
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty does not last; but a woman who fears the Lord will be greatly praised.” (Proverbs 31:30 NLT)
In honor of Mother’s Day, I’m celebrating my Mom everyday this week. Let me tell you about my Mom. She is one amazing woman and I want to be just like her when I grow up!
My Mother, Dorothy Sites, is an incredible teacher and expert on all things dirt! Vegetable and flower gardens, house cleaning-trust me living with dad means there will be plenty of dirt in the house, no kidding. However there is one piece of dirt that she will have nothing to do with and that is gossip.
Mother has been a seamstress forever! I think she was born sewing. When I was a child she made most of my clothing. She made my majorette dress thingy and prom dresses but the most important item she made almost 27 years ago was my wedding dress! My daughter had it on a few months ago and I stood there in awe, experiencing wave after wave of emotion. Seeing her in this treasured piece of fabric, with lace and pearls, brought back the sweet memories of the many hours my mom spent assembling this garment. Her gift made me feel like a princess on the most important day of my life.
This woman is fearless! She is not afraid of anything and she is always right in the middle of giving and serving her heart out because that is exactly how God wired her. She is fearless and fierce but at the same time she is a quiet servant. Don’t cross her or she’ll throat punch you and put the Word on you! LOL
Mom: I salute you for being a woman of God, for praying for your daughters, our husbands and your grandkids. I salute you for helping us sprout our wings many years ago, allowing us to soar out of the nest into the calling that God placed on each of us. I salute you for helping shape me into the woman I am today. God knows you had your work cut out for you with me and I am certain that you will have extra jewels in your crown.
What a lady! My Mom, my best friend and my prayer partner. I love you Mother and I will forever treasure the time I have with you.
