Confessions of a Pastor's Wife ~ My Crutch...

The “crutch” I’m leaning on isn’t literal but one I’ve used to prop up areas of my life far too long. Bet you can relate with what I’m about to share:

“I can’t, I have fear issues which keep me from believing I can."

"I won't even try something new or different, I can't because I might fail!"

"I’ve been told I can’t, therefore I don't believe I’m capable."

"I can't memorize scripture." (overused crutch)

We've become preoccupied, focusing on our shortcomings: how we’ll look, if we'll fail, other people's opinions blah blah blah. Perhaps we’ve forgotten Colossians 3:3 "you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God." Maybe we prefer to embrace our failures rather than be filled with hope. It takes courage and self-discipline to leave our familiar comfort zone. I know I’m meddling but I can, it’s my blog LOL

Philippians 1:6, one of my go to passages for courage says, “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." (ESV)

God began the good work in us the very moment we invited Jesus Christ to be Lord of our lives. He started it and He will complete it. Here’s where things might get a little tricky: Will you trust that His good works are beyond what you can ask or think, according to the power that is at work in you? (Ephesians 3:20) literally life changing?

He ushers us from the dumpster of “I can’t” to the mountain top of “I can." He turns hopelessness into hope. He squashes fear until we become fiercely courageous. Through Him chaos yields to self-discipline.

Surrender.
