Confessions of a Pastor's Wife~ Who Ministers to YOU?
Pushing to meet the arriving deadline, I felt rushed and sensed my frustration rising.
Without warning an intense situation needed to be diffused so my deadline would be missed yet again. Thankfully those receiving my document understood the unexpected interruption.
On the other end of the phone a was a woman frantically out of control; this went on for several minutes until until we somehow managed to calm her broken heart.
The situation was diffused and the atmosphere in the tiny room became quiet. In silence, shock and a little fear, my friend and I stared at one another. I don’t know what her thoughts were but mine said, “who ministers to the minister?”
Our hearts became overwhelmed as the prior appointment seemed inconsolable; adrenaline pushed us to tears and we needed a place of refuge. Honestly my plan was to run home, jump in my pjs, dive into my bed covers and hide. My brain said I'm not equipped for this heavy stuff, it’s too much. However, running away wasn't an option because He has prepared us for moments like these.
We did the one thing we're equipped to do in chaotic moments: we shut the door, cranked up the music and we worshipped Almighty God!! No I mean we were singing hard and maybe a little off pitch, none the less, His presence ushered into the room in a split second God came near and calmed our hearts unlike anyone else could.
That’s how we thrive! We grab one another by the hand, run hard, face first into His presence and find courage to press on.
“...in my distress I cried out to the Lord;
yes, I prayed to my God for help.
He heard me from His sanctuary;
my cry to Him reached his ears” (Psalm 18:6 NLT)
