Confessions of a Pastors Wife~ It's not about me.
Sometimes we need to use up words and it's usually at the expense of another person's energy.
In a recent attempt to engage in conversation I was well into my chattiness before I realized she had a far away look in her eyes. One of two things was happening (1) I was talking super fast or (2) She needed extra coffee to keep my pace. Either way, in MY need to use up MY words I failed to recognize the poor thing was having a crisis moment. Her fake smile followed by a full on melt down made her pain quite obvious.
Woah! How many times have we missed mentoring opportunities because we need to be heard? We're so busy thinking about what we're gonna say next we often fail to recognize the deep need in others.
Note to self: It's not about me!
Being self-centered has become an epidemic. We must stop being preoccupied with ourselves and become more aware of others.
“He must increase, I must decrease”. John 3:30 (ESV)
