Confessions of a Pastors Wife ~
I was at the kitchen sink
convincing myself to empty the dishwasher and reload it. Dirty dishes were about to overflow onto the floor that also needed attention. I whined a little because I did NOT want to... Not the dishes, that's a no brainer. I was whining because I had just told God I wasn't interested in getting all tangled up in a particularly difficult situation that would need huge prayer coverage and Holy Spirit intervention. "God, I'm a year older today (9/20) and I'm a bit more tired than usual, I don't have that kind of energy..."
You wanna know what happened next don't you? He didn't smack me, guilt me or disown me. He gently reminded me of the Beth Moore "Breath" session 2 study. His Holy Spirit gives us creativity, self-discipline and energy. #BOOM He strongly impressed on me that the very situation I was hoping to avoid is His exact plan for me and He would energize me even if I am "old".
Whaaaa! Whaaaa! A little more whining and a large amount of humble pie consumption. Involvement will require prayer, a lot of prayer, intentional time investment not to the emotional drain and the need for vulnerability. we should focus on the benefits of obedience.
1-compliance: mine. While my flesh was screaming no, my spirit woman became willing to comply with the will of God.
Holy Spirit sandpaper was about to happen in my life. You know, it's the process that requires some pain but the purpose is NOT the pain, the purpose is to sand off my rough edges and make me more like Jesus Christ.
“Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ. If you think you are too important to help someone, you are only fooling yourself. You are not that important.” Galatians 6:2-3 NLT
